You (and your partner/spouse, if applicable) must present government-issued photo identification such as a passport, driver's license or your ONEcard to confirm your identity when you pick-up your keys.

Your ONEcard is your official University student identification. Government issued Photo ID (driver's license or passport) is required for ONEcard issuance.

As a UAlberta resident, you may also use your ONEcard to:

  • Access residence buildings
  • Make purchases with your meal plan flex funds and/or ONEcard Cash account

DAMAGED ONEcards

If your ONEcard becomes damaged, you may surrender it to the ONEcard office and purchase a new card.

LOST/STOLEN ONEcards

Remember, your ONEcard is not PIN protected. For this reason, and because of the building access enabled by your ONEcard, it is essential that you report a lost or stolen card immediately so that all card activity can be suspended.

Reports can be filed with the ONEcard office online, by phone (780-492-7924) or in person (9104 HUB Mall). Alternately, you can report a lost or stolen card to the Student and Guest Services Desk (S&GS Desk) at Lister Centre or at the Student Life Central in SUB. If your ONEcard is not found, you may replace it for $25 (does not include replacement U-Pass).

Until notification of a lost/stolen card has been received, you will be responsible for all use of your ONEcard, including meal plan access, whether or not such use is authorized by you.

A UCR (Unit Condition Report) is a room inspection that helps you identify items that are damaged, missing or in need of repair or cleaning, at the time of move-in. The results of your Move-In UCR will be compared to a Move-Out UCR completed by a staff member at Move-Out. Residents must complete and submit the Move-In UCR within 7 days from taking possession of their unit to avoid fees resulting from undocumented damages, repairs, cleaning required and missing items.

  • Log into your Residence Account
  • Select "Your Room/Unit Inspection" from the Online Forms section
  • Choose the inspection link for your unit. This link will remain active for 7 days after your move-in date
  • Agree or disagree with the condition of each inventory item
  • Report any maintenance, repair, cleanliness, or health and safety concerns by disagreeing with the condition and adding the appropriate comments or photos
  • Once finished you can either click ‘save’, to be able to come back and edit the UCR within the remainder of the 7 days, or click ‘submit completed inspection’ to submit the completed UCR. No additions or changes can be made once the UCR is submitted

By submitting an UCR with maintenance, repair, cleanliness, or health and safety concerns reported, you are granting Residence Operations permission to enter your unit without additional notice provided within 10 business days to address the reported concerns. If you have a roommate, please let them know about the issue so they are aware of the pending staff entry. Residence Operations staff will lock your room door behind you so always have your keys with you.

With the exception of reasonable wear and tear, your unit (and the space surrounding the outside of your door) should be left in the same condition when you vacate  as when you took possession. This includes furniture placement. It is your responsibility to confirm the inventory items in your unit.

If you have problems completing your UCR, contact your Resident Assistant or Residence Coordinator for help.

In becoming a resident of the University of Alberta, you agree to abide by Residence Services’ Community Standards. In this section of our website, you will find your residence specific expectations, your House Rules, as well as general information about Residence Services’ Community Standards and the Code of Student Behaviour.

U-PASS AND EDMONTON TRANSIT (ETS)

The U-Pass gives all full-time UAlberta students unlimited access to regular ETS, St. Albert Transit and Strathcona County Transit services for fall and winter terms. You will be required to get a sticker when you obtain your ONEcard in order to travel on transit at no additional cost as it is included in your student fees. Detailed U-Pass information can be found online.

PARKING PERMITS

Due to the limited parking space available on campus and the convenience of the U-Pass, we discourage residents from bringing a vehicle to campus. If you must bring a vehicle and require a parking space, please visit Parking Services for information about Student Parking Permits.

Be advised that if you purchase a monthly permit, it will not be valid until September 1. Students moving in on August 27, 2018 will need to pay for daily parking from August 28 until September 1.
